Our name comes from a play on the Japanese phonebook manga Ju.ne, which publishes original boys' love comics.
The studio is the brainchild of C. Diane, who was inspired by the gals of Umbrella Studios. Since she's not an artist, she decided to aim for a mixed medium group, with people doing both art and stories, as they will. Initially, the call went out to her friends, mainly locally, and the group is small.
Printed publications are planned for twice a year, with online-only e-zines in months between.
We're looking to grow, so if you're interested in joining, consider the following:
Writers
- Send an example story of at least 1000 words to akiko at livejournal dot com. I (C. Diane) will give an initial screen then send it along to the rest of the group for a vote.
- Your submission will be judged on grammar, spelling, punctuation, and cogence.
- You must be able to commit to at least two stories a year, preferably one every two months.
Artists
- Send either a URL with sample art or sample art files to the address above. Your submission will be judged on proportion, scale, and basic artistry.
- You must be able to commit to at least one picture every two months, or one comic every 4-6 months.
General
- You must be able to meet deadlines.
- Convention appearances are wonderful, but not mandatory. If you go to a con, expect to take flyers for the flyer table.
- Right now, this is all out of my pocket. Sharing the costs of printing flyers between group members will help ease the strain on my checkbook.
What if I can't commit?
We will have openings for guest contributors for the e-zines if you don't think you have time for a full commitment. The submission rules are the same as above. Put in that you are submitting a guest contribution.
